Lava aggregates a decentralized network of top RPC providers. The Lava protocol pairs apps to providers according to their geolocation, response speed, availability, data accuracy and stake. Providers on Lava are entities, individuals or companies who run RPC nodes and offer service to apps, in return for subscription payments.
At Mainnet, anyone will be able to join as a Provider and contribute to the open standard for blockchain access.
Providers offer RPC service on Lava. Developers purchase on-chain subscription plans for regular RPC, and these payments are distributed to Providers based on how much RPC they have served in a given period. Providers are also rewarded more for having high quality of service: latency, availability and data freshness.
No! To make our service more scalable and remove barriers to entry, we have separated Validator and Provider roles.
Lava supports 15+ networks currently, including Ethereum, Cosmos Hub, Aptos, Celo, Arbitrum, Starknet, Polygon, Osmosis, Fantom, Canto, Base, Evmos, Optimism and Juno.
New chains are added all the time, for which our ongoing Provider Incubation programme will onboard new Providers to help bootstrap initial service.
